Step 1) Never give up….
Every feel like you start something then never finish it?
Funnily enough I let this post sit in my dashboard as a draft for a bit or for a day or two, ok make that a few months. Why because this is something which I wanted to get right. What I meant to say is- I wanted to make this a motivational post without it sounding boring. Ramblings aside, one of the hardest things to do sometimes is to remain motivated. I don’t want to write anything too personal on here (yet)- I guess I’m not comfortable with that. We all have struggles in our lives and it is easy to judge. You can look at someone and assume they have everything so their life must be easy and perfect. What I have learned over the years is that no matter what, we all have our own problems. Everyone is fighting a battle no one knows about. Regardless of struggle and pain you have to keep going and it’s only those problems which make you stronger.
2) Pain is temporary, this happens to be one of my favourite quotes I heard it from Eric Thomas and have listened to his speeches since. He makes a point of using that pain to motivate you. At the end of the day the time will pass anyway so you might as well keep going as the pain won’t last forever. If you quit however you will.
3) Compete with yourself no one else. At the end of the day the best investment you can make is in you. Focus on improving your skills, attitude or whatever weakness and fear you may have.
4) Turn your negatives into positives, I don’t mean laugh when you want to cry. But seeing the world differently can always help. I used to always complain about commuting, 3 hours of my day I felt were being wasted. I couldn’t afford to move, I felt so washed out and drained. Now, I still commute but i’d rather be tired than broke. My mornings are made up of beautiful sunrises and evenings worth every photograph. It also helps that I now work somewhere which allows flexible hours.
5) Which moves on to this “If you don’t like something change it”. No one is going to do it for you, you have to be able to be proactive. I have found a lot more opportunities by trying to improve on what I don’t like and doing something about it.
This is not supposed to be a preachy post, but I thought it would be nice to share some tips. I’ve read other blogs with random motivational posts and it has helped me.
So wherever you are and whoever you are smile. Feel free to share any of your top tips, I hope to make this a continuous theme.
