Travel dilemma

As you may know I have set my heart on going to Japan and China this year, I have 14 days which I can use use up for this.  The dilemma? They are huge countries and with so much to see, I don’t want to miss out. I want to go to Kyoto, Tokyo, Shanghai and Beijing but this is going to feel very rushed. So if anyone has been or has any recommendations then feel free to comment below, I could do with some help on this. I know that I really want to go to see The Great Wall of China, but don’t want to cut out one country if I am travelling that far.

  1. I’ve been in a similar position and chose to just visit china, leaving visiting japan for another time. So my advice would be to pick one, see it properly and waste less days travelling. It’s tempting to see it all, but then you may end up feeling rushed and like you have to return anyway because you only caught a glimpse of the place.

You could do this in either order but I’d suggest Beijing, Shanghai (with a day trip to Suzhou, or an ancient water town such as zhujiajiao) then south to Yangshou (an hour from Guilin which you can fly or take the train to) to see the beautiful karst mountains on the Li River, plus the Longsheng rice terraces if you have time. Finally spend a couple of days in Hong Kong – my favourite city! This would be just the right amount to cover in 2weeks as you’d have three or four days in each place.

Have an amazing trip! And i’d love to see if anyone posts any suggestions for japan, I reckon by the time I end up there, my to do list will be so long, I’ll need months not weeks.

  2. Awwwaa thank you so much Emma 🙂 I feel like I have to do it all in one go who knows where i’ll be but I see your point ahhhh, i’m going to have a nosey around your blog! xx
