New Year in Buenos Aires

So after spending New Year in Sydney last year, I was determined to have a peaceful and quiet New Year. So turns out they don’t have public fireworks in Buenos Aires, so it was quiet indeed.

I started off my day by visiting La Boca and then on to Parque.

I walked through the markets and watched people dance in the streets. It was a different perspective and when they say it’s quiet on New Years Eve in this city, it certainly was!

I then walked around and found somewhere that offered coffee. It was only around 4pm and everything had closed or already was. I wish I knew this earlier, it seemed everyone had the day off and it turned into ghost town.

I then hunted for food as the lunch I ordered wasn’t great I couldn’t even eat it. My Doritos and Snickers were not going to save the night just yet. I walked even further and then found myself at a restaurant with terrible service, I’m not going to name and shame.

I then went back to my hotel and gave it a few hours before I left to hunt for fireworks. I read online that the best place to publicly watch fireworks were at the harbour.

So I made my way there and I am so glad I did. It was such a cool atmosphere. There wasn’t even a countdown I just looked at my phone and saw that it was 11:59pm. Then all the fireworks went off, but I loved it. Happy New Year to everyone, I hope you have a blessed year and may all your dreams come true.
