So 2019 arrived but most days I feel like I never really said goodbye to 2018. It’s been a rollercoaster of a year, I’ve had some amazing opportunities but also challenging times which meant I haven’t updated my blog as much as I’d hoped to. So what’s been going on?
To be honest, the start of 2018 was super busy to the point I experienced burn out and became unhealthy with my diet, I thought I was being healthier but I ended up restricting myself too much. I made a change and tried focusing on self-care. You learn a lot during tough periods in your life like who is really there for you and what matters most. I had amazing opportunities running training sessions on behalf of Google, being the first speaker at a Women in Tech movement in my hometown and lots more.
Being self-employed is tough, when it’s good it’s good, but when it’s bad the pain points really hit you. It’s a hard one to explain to those who are used to a regular income and meant I have often kept things bottled up. Never the less I have faced up to issues including outstanding invoices which I have really felt.
But without the “bad” we could not appreciate the good, there have been days where I’ve thought why me, what have I done to deserve this. I’ve had to switch my mindset and focus my energy on the amazing opportunities I have been presented with and so grateful for. Nothing worth having comes easy and even if you are fighting battles, keep going as better days are ahead.
